MG3 to get Guangzhou unveiling

Production version of new MG3
MG is gearing up to unveil its contemporary new entry-level model at the Guangzhou auto show on December 20.
The MG3 supermini, codnamed ZP11 and revealed here outside parent company Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), is the second all-new MG model to appear since the traditional British car maker’s sale by the defunct Rover Group to the Nanjing Automobile Group in 2005 – prior to a takeover of the Nanjing Automobile Group by SAIC in 2007, following on from the well received MG6 which went on sale in China earlier this year.
Previewed by the MG Zero concept car at this year’s Beijing auto show, the MG3 is planned to be sold with the choice of a 1.3- and 1.5-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine – both already in service in the SAIC produced Roewe 350. Gearbox choices will include a standard five-speed manual and optional four speed automatic from Japanese specialist Aisin.
